Welcome Troop 13 Scouts and Friends

Who We Are

Founded in 1937, we are the oldest continuously chartered troop in Gulfstream Council.  We are a scout led troop, and we believe that scouts learn best by doing, even if they make mistakes.  We are also a fully integrated, co-ed troop, welcoming both male and female scouts.

What We Do

We are an active troop.  At meetings, we play games and learn scout skills.  We also plan for our next outings.  We camp at least once a month during every month during the school year.  On these camp outs, we practice scout skills, like hiking, swimming, backpacking, and canoeing, and sometimes snow skiing, white water rafting, river tubing, and scuba diving (for those who are certified).  During the summers, we go to summer camps, both locally and out of state, usually in the mountains.  Hello cooler weather!

We believe in service – we seek to give back to our charter organization, Memorial Presbyterian Church,  and our community.

Come join us!

Normally, we meet every Thursday night at 7pm at Memorial Presbyterian Church on the campus of Palm Beach Atlantic University.

We have been doing online meetings during Covid lockdown.

New members are always welcome!

Just like summer camp, but with the cool temperatures and low humidity of the Florida winter.  Camp runs from December 27th through 31st.  Early Bird registration of $300 ends on 11/15 and then goes up the $325.  This rate is for provisional campers since we will not be attending Winter Camp as a troop.  There is also a provisional day camper option for $275.  Use this link to register- https://www.gulfstreamcouncil.org/winter-camp

Scouting for Food- Bags In

Posted on Nov 7 2021 - 6:16am

Scouting for Food is the BSAs annual national food drive.  We need scouts and adults to RSVP to help us collect the food in the Old Northwood neighborhood of WPB on Saturday morning 11/13 from 9 am until about noon.  Thanks to a few scouts and their families, we delivered bags to about 350 homes this past Saturday.  Next Saturday, we will need a few scouts and adults to volunteer to drive those same streets, pick up the full bags of food, and deliver everything to the local food bank.  Of course, service hours will be awarded.

Let's Wrap our Popcorn Sales This Week

Posted on Oct 31 2021 - 2:41am

If you currently have troop popcorn in your possession, let's do our best to sell the last of it this week.  We would like to close out this year's popcorn fundraiser and move on to other things, but we need to sell the remainder of the troop's inventory first.  Keep in mind that we can sell anytime at the Ace Hardware in PBG,  Sales there have been very good. Thanks once again to this year's Troop 13 Popcorn Kernels Marcos Caceres and Josh Hordish.  It has been a very successful fundraiser.

Want to attend SAW?

Posted on Oct 31 2021 - 2:33am

If you aren't planning to attend the troop's 50 miler trip during the pre-Thanksgiving Weekend, you should attend SAW instead.  SAW is an opportunity for scouts to work on either one of two merit badges at TK.  Adult classes will also be offered.  Registration is $40 if you register by October 20, and $50 thereafter.  Same day registration is $60, but very few MB classes will be available on that day, and your t-shirt and patch won't be guaranteed.  Registration must be done through the troop.  So pick your classes and call Mrs. Bell, who will take care of both your registration and payment over the phone.  If you want to use funds in your scout account, you must make through arrangements with the troop treasurer via email, with a copy to Mrs. Bell before you will be able to use a scout account to register.  SAW classes are filling fast! So register early to get the classes you really want!
